Full Moon Cacao Ceremony

The receiving of plant medicine is one of the most profound ceremonies one can experience. Plant ceremonies are intended for us to commune on a deeper level with ourselves, our planet, and our fellow humans.

Sometimes that means diving deeply into our shadow. Sometimes, we expand more powerfully into our light.

In this sacred ceremony, with medicinal strength cacao directly from Lake Atitlan in Guatemala, we will expand all that is good within us and all around us.

The cacao spirit will guide us as we open our hearts and connect with our gratitude, our appreciation, and our love for the Father, the Mother, The Teacher, and the Source of all that is.

With the opening of the heart, we can begin to release old stories and beliefs, as well as release any negativity and tension that is lingering in our energy fields.

All are welcome to join in this deeply transformational circle.

**Please do not eat 2 hours before the ceremony.

Registration is closed.

The Roots of Modern Yoga: Bhagavad Gita, Yoga Sutras, and The Upanishads

The Roots of Modern Yoga_ Bhagavad Gita, Yoga Sutras, and The Upanishads (3) (1).png

This weekend, taught by Alyssa Snow, can be used for continuing education; it is worth 14 YACED credits.

The heart of this yoga practice that makes you feel so vibrant and healthy was recorded in the words of sages in ancient texts such as the Sutras of Pantanjali, the Bhagavad Gita, and the Upanishads many thousands of years ago.

This weekend we will study these texts through the lens of our modern lives and our modern yoga practices. We are no longer monks living in monasteries. We are peeling back the layers of our conditioning every day (even as new layers try to get formed!), and using the tools of yoga: how do we cultivate bhakti yoga (the yoga of devotion), Karma Yoga (the yoga of service), and Raja Yoga (the eight limbs of yoga) in this global, multimedia world?

This weekend will include lecture, discussion, and three hours of asana and meditation practice.

Feel and Follow your Fascia

Feel and Follow Your Fascia.png

A Pop Up Class with Edya
5/28/2019 from 6-7:15
Drop in for $25 or use your membership.

Your connective tissue system, better known as your fascia, keeps your muscles toned, your joints stable, and your organs protected. How well your connective tissue is able to support all these other systems depends on its level of cellular hydration. If you wake up stiff and achy; if you easily injure yourself in yoga class; if you have digestive or breathing issues...your tissue is dehydrated.

In this special pop-up class, inspired by MELT Method and CranioSacral Therapy techniques, you’ll learn how to use small rubber balls and the soft MELT half roller to feel and follow the tension in your fascia and then facilitate a deep, juicy, healing release.

Half rollers and balls provided in class.

Backbends for Health and Longevity Part Two

backbends3.10.png

With Colleen Kers

Backbends counteract the effects of gravity, which means they are anti-aging! They maintain and restore suppleness to the spine. These group of postures opens the heart and the entire front body, calming the brain. In a more integrated, holistic way they develop strength, flexibility, clarity, and fearlessness in body and mind, and contribute to a more resilient nervous system. When they are practiced with integrity and regularity, they can be soothing and therapeutic.

We will incorporate/review the fundamentals of Part 1 during our opening asana practice and deepen into the postures a bit more. “Lab” work will introduce one or two more advanced backbends to explore, experience, and appreciate with increased awareness and understanding.

Yogis who can’t attend the first session, but would like to attend the second must receive Colleen’s approval.

KIRTAN WORKSHOP: SACRED SOUNDS, STORIES, AND CHANTS with Patrick Heffernan

february workshops (2) (1).png

Yoga and chanting have been synonymous for thousands of years. Most of us are familiar with the idea of “mantra” as a slogan or motto that serves as a reminder to ground us, bring peace, or express our devotion.

But where did these phrases and Sanskrit sounds come from, how have they persisted through centuries of cultural change and evolution, and what do they mean for us today?
