Why did you become a healer?: Well over a decade ago I stumbled into the world of Chinese medicine through an existing interest in healthcare and a nascent but rapidly deepening kung fu practice. Naturally, as I became more invested in my martial arts practice, my interest in the philosophical and physiological underpinnings of the art grew. As I considered what type of healthcare I wanted to provide, the combination of these interests led me synergistically (you might say inevitably) to Chinese medicine.
Your healing philosophy: I am committed to providing my patients with compassionate, holistic healthcare. Through my treatments, I seek to activate the body's innate healing ability; and through encouragement and education, I strive to empower my patients to become fully participant and invested in their health and treatment outcomes. My passion for for what I do derives not only from the elegance, holism, and efficacy of the medicine, but from the empowerment and therapeutic results that arise from a focused and compassionate practitioner-patient relationship.
Life outside the studio: Working in my downtown practice and at The YinOva Center; dancing the 5 Rhythms; practicing the piano (after a 22 year hiatus); hanging out with the coolest (and cutest) 3-legged dog ever (as well as a couple of mischief-making cats); enjoying uptown's fabulous parks; and maybe, just maybe, swinging a tennis racket now and again.
Life philosophy/Favorite quote: Optimism and an open heart will take you anywhere you want to go!
