This workshop is for yogis who want to challenge themselves, and also for those who want to have fun by seeing things – their practice, their viewpoint, the world – from a different perspective. Tom will start with a balanced hatha practice that begins to activate and integrate the core, the key to these poses. Then you will be safely led into a series of inversions and arm balances that may include Bakasana (crane/crow pose), Pincha Mayurasana (forearm stand), Adho Mukha Vrksasana (handstand), as well as poses such as Eka Pada Koundinyasana (twisted one-legged arm balance), and Tittibasana (firefly). Completing the full asana is not the goal.
This workshop is for everybody, not just intermediate and advanced practitioners. Tom will deconstruct postures so you know how to safely approach the inversion or arm balance. The goal here is to pay attention to how we approach the placement of our bodies and how we use our breath in unfamiliar physical positions.
